We've got steep hills here in Laguna Beach so we're always on the look out for electric bikes with lots of torque. With this new line of Direct Drive bikes from iGo, looks like we've found a winner. iGo Electric Bikes rip up the hills with massive torque using Direct-Drive which produces 3 times more torque than hub-driven electric bike systems. Since the Direct-Drive system drives the chain and not the wheel like other electric bikes, the power transfer from the bike's gears provide seamless hill climbing power directly to the rear wheel. More importantly, Direct-Drive systems are incredibly efficient and offer the best weight to power ratio by delivering more performance with less demand on the battery using pedal assist or throttle.

iGo's Direct Drive system powers a bike the same way a human powers a bike, by the chain but with way more torque. Unlike hub motors, there is no resistance or drag from the motor when the power is off. Since there are no electronics in the wheels, flat tire and wheel repairs are easy since both rims can be removed with standard quick release levers
