With proper use of gearing, speeds of 25 - 30 mph are unbelievably easy to achieve and Machine X cruises up sustained steep inclines with minimal rider effort. Machine X is an ingenious combination of a Heinzman 500W motor, a 14-gear semi-auto or 8–speed full auto drive system and "add-on ready" tubular NiMH D-cell battery packs mounted low on the frame. For a bike that weighs in at just 55 lbs, Machine X is worth its weight in gold.

Machine X is the only electric bicycle built tough enough for extreme riding. We tried to kill it but it wouldn't die. OK, it died a couple times but we were always able to fix it with a basic bike tool kit. Rims, motor casing, everything about it is bomb proof and built to take a thrashing. In case you haven't noticed, Machine X is not your average mass produced electric bicycle. Each Machine X is carefully hand-assembled in California by American bike industry professionals using parts and components that can only be described as the best of the best. This means that ZVO takes the time to get it right the first time by testing and fine tuning each and every Machine X that leaves the factory. Although the price of Machine X is high, we encourage you to add up the cost of the individual components and compare the total to the price of a similar bike without electric propulsion.
